POMPEII & VESUVIUS - Full Day
This excursion is an excellent combination : having seen Pompeii, you may want also to visit the volcano which, in 79 A.D., buried the town under 6 metres of volcanic ash and killed almost all of the 20,00 inhabitants. Although Vesuvius is currently classed as dormant, its last eruption was only in 1984.

Itinerary : As well as the 2-hour guided tour of Pompeii, you will also be taken, by coach, half-way up Mount Vesuvius from where you can walk the rest of the way to stroll around the rim of its gaping crater - 600 metres wide & 200 metres deep. From 1,281 metres up the fabulous views of Naples and the plains of Campania stretch out far below you .

Notes:
It can be quite cool at the top of Vesuvius so take a heavier top with you; wear comfy closed-in shoes to stop all the little stones getting in; take sun-glasses and/or a hat as the glare of the sun in Pompeii can be quite strong; take a bottle of drinking water.
